Eric has been sailing since he was a wee lad. Anything he found that would float was soon fitted with a sailing rig of some sort. In his teen years he helped his father Garnet Phinney with the reguild of the early 1900’s river racing sloop “Merry Major”. During three years she went through a major refit, while sailing every season. After graduation from seminary a paritioner in the Parish of Renforth offered Eric the use of his Paceship Northwind, which Eric used for several years before purchasing “Study Time”, an Irwin 28 near Annopolis MD. After several trips to the boat he and his friend Steve together with two of his sons returned the boat to Canada via the US east coast. After a few years of upgrades Study Time was sold to a marine bioligist who wanted to live aboard while on the job in St. Andrews. Eric then found TEVAH near Buzzards Bay south of Cape Cod. In 2018 Eric and Val sailed TEVAH to the Bahamas and returned.
