Foreword
There is a very big difference between taking your boat out for an afternoon or one night and going for a week or more. Once you get to a week, and are comfortable, there really is no limit to the amount of enjoyable cruising[i] you can do. There are however several things that the boat owner needs to be aware of to really move into enjoyable cruising. This blog is written with the new cruising family in mind but will be useful for anyone who wants to extend their voyaging beyond one day or one weekend. I have invited submissions from experienced and non-experienced cruisers to ask and answer the most pressing questions. I have also made end notes to give some definitions to some terms that may not be well understood. Learn the language of boating and you will be halfway there. People can add comments, ask questions and post relevant pictures.

[i] Cruising is the activity of boating just for enjoyment. It is not racing it is not yacht delivery. It is about exploring and enjoying the waterway. It can be done alone or in groups. Cruising is sometimes defined a boat repairs in exotic locations.
